Makeup On The Go With Debenhams

Makeup On The Go With Debenhams

Applying makeup while travelling, it’s a challenge and a half but sometimes a necessity if you didn’t have enough time in the morning to apply it. On many occasions I’ve had to apply my makeup on the bus, except it’s never as glamorous as you want it to be. With brushes and tools flying everywhere, not only was it a huge embarrassment to see my makeup flying down the aisle, but I never seem to have enough hands to hold all these products and a mirror at the same time! That’s why when Debenhams got in touch about their new makeup on the go video, I knew I wanted to try and give this look a go myself using the tips from the video.

For the base, I used the MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation in the shade NW10. I was a little skeptical over using the puff included, however I was pleasantly surprised at how evenly it actually applied the powder. It is a foundation and powder in one, meaning it covers up imperfections and you don’t have to use an additional powder to set it.

For any areas that the foundation doesn’t manage to conceal, the Estee Lauder Double Wear Brush-On Glow BB Highlighter provides good coverage, as well as doubling up as a highlighter. I used shade 1N which is perfect for those with pale skin! It’s great for on the go and it brightens, perfects, and corrects. The highlighter comes in an applicator brush that dispenses when twisting from the bottom. My only niggle with the product is that a lot of product can come out at once, so it’s best to twist the bottom slowly!

For the eyes, I used bareMinerals Lasting Line Long-Wearing Eyeliner, a twist up pencil that glides that lines and defines top and bottom lashes. It features a built in sharpener and an angled smudge tip, which allows you to create a sleek look, perfect for either a daytime look or night!

Paired with this eyeliner, the Benefit Roller Lash mascara is great for adding a bit of oomph! Although I don’t feel it does much in the way of curling, I am really impressed by how much it lengthened and separated my lashes without clumping.

To add a bit of colour, the YSL Kiss And Blush allows for instant application on both the lips and cheeks. Available in 12 shades, it blends easily to give a softer, matte finish. I chose shade 8 which is a rosy pink colour, and with a few dabs on the apples of my cheeks, it gave me a healthy glow!

If you don’t feel like using the Kiss And Blush for your lips too, a great alternative is the Too Faced Melted Lipstick. Peony is a beautiful shade of nude pink, and although can be a little drying on the lips, you can combat this by exfoliating and moisturising your lips first. The actual texture of the product is lovely and creamy, and is applied using the angled velvet tip. The colour is gorgeous, while needing only a few touch ups during the day if the lips have been prepped correctly. It has fast become my most reached for lip product for both while I’m travelling, and at home.

All of these products courtesy of Debenhams are perfect to use on the go, as they eliminate the need to use additional tools – so you won’t have to go through the makeup explosion like I experienced on the bus! Let me know below if you’ve ever ran into problems while applying makeup on the bus or train before, or what your favourite product is to use on the go!
