Mermaid Halloween Makeup Look

Mermaid Halloween Green Makeup Look Idea Tutorial 2014

Today I bring you a Mermaid makeup look, in all its magical wonder! I used Dainty Doll eyeshadow in Copacabana (bright blue) and The One foundation in shade 1 (white), mixed together to create a base. To contour, I used Dainty Doll in Jungle (emerald green). All the eye and face makeup was created by using the Makeup Revolution Colour Chaos palette and Snazaroo face paint for the white dots (and a little bit on my eyebrows).

I'm not going to lie, I'm a sucker for Halloween and have a fancy dress box the size of what a child would own. As it's my favourite time of the year, I wanted to show you part of my collection, starting with Nurse Joy that I hope you'll recognise is from Pokemon!

This dress is the Fever Nurse Costume from Smiffy's, and although it is not on their website anymore, you can easily find it on eBay and other fancy dress sites. The dress features a cute bow on the back and includes a headpiece. I bought stockings and white patent heels separately, along with a little Pokeball pin to complete the look. I did have a Pikachu necklace to pair with this look, but sadly it's nowhere to be found!

Obviously this outfit is opting more for the less scary side of Halloween, I adore it nonetheless. This dress is a bit on the short side so I wouldn't go out wearing it unless I had shorts or something on underneath - else what would my mother think! Makeup wise, I've kept it looking natural with a nude lip and an attempted anime eye look. Dressing as Nurse Joy always gives me the temptation to go back to having bright pink hair, but since I last dyed it pink in January and my hair is still stained now, I don't think that'll happen again anytime soon!

Let me know in the comments if you'd like to see more Halloween outfits, or would prefer more makeup looks!

Black Swan Halloween Makeup Look

Black Swan Halloween Makeup Look Tutorial 2014

Black Swan Halloween Makeup Look Tutorial 2014

Black Swan Halloween Makeup Look Tutorial 2014

After seeing a Black Swan makeup look on the Fragrance Direct website, I couldn't help but give it a go myself! I had purposely bought white foundation to create this look, however I wasn't the least surprised when I found out that it suited my skin colour perfectly - just call me a ghost! Since the foundation made no change to my skin colour, instead I opted to use Snazaroo white face paint. Although similar to my Avatar look, it did turn out a little patchy but it definitely did turn my face white!

I used a simple black eyeshadow from the Naked Basics palette to fill in my eyelids and to create the shape I wanted. Using a white eyeshadow, I drew a thin line on my eyelid and proceeded to fill in my waterline. I tried to use the same eyeshadow to give more depth to the black eyeshadow, to give it a feather-like effect but this failed sadly, so instead I opted for black gems. On my lips I used Makeup Revolution Rebel with Cause lipstick. It did bleed out into the white face paint a little, but I adore this shade! You could easily finish off this look by adding white to create a feather effect on the eyes (or perhaps stick on real feathers), and adding a tiara or hairpiece.

I'm having so much fun creating Halloween looks, and I've got a few more coming your way this week so keep an eye out for those! Let me know in comments what you think of this Black Swan makeup look!

Avatar Halloween Makeup Look

Avatar Halloween Makeup Look Tutorial 2014 Blue Face

Avatar Halloween Makeup Look Tutorial 2014 Blue Face

Avatar Halloween Makeup Look Tutorial 2014 Blue Face

Products Used:
Snazaroo Face Paints in Sky Blue and White
Makeup Revolution Colour Chaos Palette (Over-bored, Deliver Me, Needed To..., TipX and Wkd)
Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette (Crave)
Collection 24hr Extreme Liner
L'Oreal Miss Manga Mascara

Tools:
Face Paint Brush
Makeup Sponges
Eyelash Curlers
RT Essential Foundation Brush
RT Shading Brush
RT Brow Brush
RT Blush Brush
RT Contour Brush

To find out exactly how I created this look, click below!

  • Firstly I mixed Snazaroo Sky Blue and White together to make a paler blue that I wanted.
  • I then covered my entire face, ears and neck with blue face paint using the RT essential foundation brush, and used makeup sponges to disguise any brush strokes.
  • Under my eyes I drew a thick, white line using the white face paint.
  • I used Over-bored (dark blue eyeshadow) to contour using the RT contour brush. Using the same eyeshadow, I then contoured my nose using the RT shading brush.
  • Using the RT brow brush, I used Crave (black eyeshadow) to define my nose further.
  • To highlight, I patted TipX (white eyeshadow) over my nose and cheek bones.
  • Using Over-bored and Deliver Me (dark grey eyeshadow) with the RT brow brush, I brushed the colour into my eyebrows to make them bolder.
  • To define the crease on my eyes, I used Crave with the RT shading brush.
  • I patted Wkd (turquoise eyeshadow) into the centre of my eyelid.
  • Applying my eyeliner on with the Collection felt tip liner, I also added a flick for a feminine feel.
  • Using Crave, I softly drew a line underneath where I had put the white face paint below my eye. This will give the effect of my eye appearing bigger - just like they are on Avatar!
  • Curling my eyelashes, I applied lots of mascara.
  • Using Over-bored, I patted the colour a little under my lower lip to make them appear bigger.
  • Now for the lips! I concealed my actual lip colour with the same blue eyeshadow as before, then patted Needed To... (a pink/purple eyeshadow) over the top.
  • Using the same pinky, purple colour, I used the RT blush brush to apply it to my cheeks and to the end of my nose to add a little colour to the look.
  • I mixed Over-bored and Deliver Me together to create a blue/black colour so I could draw on the markings using the RT brow brush.
  • Using the white face paint again, I randomly dotted circles over my nose, cheeks and forehead.

I had so much fun creating this look after seeing a tutorial on it by Dinosaur Dances, and although the lips went a little funny by the end and I forgot to put white eyeliner on my waterline, I think it isn't a bad attempt. Although if I were to do this look again, I would try a different brand of face paint as sadly this one did leave areas patchy, but I'm still happy with how it turned out. Let me know in comments below what you think!

My Skydiving Experience

For about three years now I've had my heart set on skydiving, however money or the wrong time of year has always held me back. Now that I'm in my second year of University, I decided to join my very first society/sport and that happened to be, yup you guessed it, skydiving!

Nottingham Blogger Meet

A couple of weeks ago I was fortunate enough to grab myself a space to attend the Nottingham blogger meet, hosted by Leah and Gemma. It was held at a bar/restaurant called Sobar that sells delicious food and non-alcoholic drinks - clever name huh? Once we had all arrived, chatted and had full bellies, we made our way upstairs to the function room. There we received a great talk from Suzie from Xenca, and then we were let loose to try out all the products!

Lush Christmas Range 2014 Store Front

Yes, it's that time of year again where Lush graces us with oodles of treats for the whole family to enjoy. I went to my local store on the day the new Christmas range was brought out, and they definitely didn't disappoint!
