Style Lux Blackhead Killer Peel Off Face Mask

Style Lux Blackhead Killer Peel Off Face Mask Packet

I was sent an interesting product to review from Style Lux called ‘Black Head Killer’ (5 pack*), quite a fierce name I must say! The mask itself looks like an industrial black paste with the consistency of icing, and I found it quite hard to move around my face. That being said, there was more than enough product in the sachet to cover my face. The instructions on the back of the packet were really simple and precise, “After 10 minutes drying, gently peel off the mask. Cleanse with warm water. Apply a delicious face moisturizer’. Although it is straight to the point, I do wish it were more in depth as this was my first time using a peel-off face mask.

My first impressions of the face mask is that it is so messy and went everywhere (I urge you to apply it over the sink, as it got it in my eyebrows, under my nails, in my hair and on the sink). Although if you do get it on your hands it removes simply with warm water and soap (warm water and a sponge for the sink!).

As I peeled off the mask it felt like I was slowly ripping a plaster off my face, now I understand why the name is so vicious. It could be because I have a little bit of peach fuzz (tiny white hairs on the face) on areas of my face that the mask was pulling at, but I’m pretty sure we all have them! So this is a bit of a mixed review to start off with, but please bear with me and keep reading.

Once the mask was fully removed, I looked at my face and my cheeks and nose were bright red and the stinging sensation remained for a good 10 minutes. I applied my ‘delicious’ Clean & Clear moisturiser and in doing so, I noticed just how soft my skin felt. It wasn’t till the redness disappeared that I also noticed my pores looked visibly cleaner. When I looked at the black mask I had peeled off my face, I could see bits of dirt that it had removed from my skin! Seeing the dirt in front of me definitely gave me satisfaction that it had actually worked. I still have a few blackheads around the sides of my nose, but I’m more than happy to use the Blackhead Killer again to try and reduce them. Speaking of which, in future I’m definitely going to stick with only applying the mask on problem areas, because I just cannot handle the sheer amount of pain it takes to peel it off (and I have a high pain tolerance!).

So after all that, will I be using the face mask again? Crazily, yes I will be! I’ve learned my lesson not to get it near my eyebrows or peach fuzz, so I’m confident I can avoid the pain for next time.
