Bloggers Do It Better | #1 Spring

The #BloggersDoItBetter challenge was created by Gemma over at Touch Of Belle, and this is the first post in the series. The full details can be found here if you're interested in taking part too, and the first topic is spring, so let's get stuck in!

Since I had yet to do some form of nail art, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to get creative. My dotting tools still haven't arrived sadly, so instead used bobby pins as a replacement which actually worked perfectly. Unfortunately the weather was a bit grim and overcast, so I had to use flash to get decent shots.

I found the most spring-like polishes I had, and ended up choosing Barry M's Heather and Blossom shades from the silk collection (I did a review of Heather here). These are great pastel shades, so I painted my nails with Blossom first, and then did three dots near each other in various places with Heather.

I wanted a bright colour for the centre of the flower, so I used Missguided Splash nail polish in Misstify/Fuschia (reviewed here).

I really love this design (excuse the messy base coat application!), and for next time I might swap around with colours as I'd love the petals to show up a bit more. It was really fun to do, and I can't wait to try some more nail art in the future!

What do you think of my first attempt?

    1. Awh you're so kind, thank-you! :) Took ages to grow them and I'm now dreading the day I'll get a split nail! These pastel colours are so pretty, but I have seen the gelly high shine ones and I love those too! My bank account probably hates me. I'll be sure to check them out on your blog! :)

  8. Love them , really cute. I too use bobby pins as dotting tools, it works just fine doesn't it? I can't be bothered to buy dotting tools, I'd rather spend the money on lipstick or sowmthing. I'm terrible buying tools. I've only just started to use make-up brushes, and I'm 23 :/

    1. I was surprised at how easy they were to use instead of dotting tools :) that's the beauty of makeup though, you can start at any age and I remember when I didn't use makeup brushes for a longgg time. I only recently invested in some lovely real techniques brushes, and they're brilliant! Much more hygienic than using my fingers to apply makeup :)

  10. These nails are gorgeous, Frankie! I would try to do my own more but I'd just have to remove them for school and plus, I always screw up my right hand and it annoys me! These are lovely though, that shade of pink is just so spring-y and rosy!
