The Versatile Blogger Award

versitle-blogger (1) (1)
A few days ago, I woke up to find out I had been nominated for another award! However because I was nominated during freshers week at University, I just haven't had the time to sit back and write until now - more about this on my next blog post.
This award is called the Versatile Blogger Award. This award is given to blogs/bloggers who you feel really have covered some unique topics/have a general uniqueness to their blog, have high quality posts, high quality photos, and have touched you or you just really love reading.
So firstly I was nominated by the lovely Kammi at BeautyBookBlog!
So the rules for this award are…

Display the award on your blog
- Mention/link the lovely people who nominated you
- Nominate another 15 blogs/bloggers who you feel should be given this award
- Inform them you have nominated them
- Write seven facts about yourself

So the 15 blogs I am nominating are...

Okay so 7 facts about myself...

    - I am a quarter Irish.
    - I can watch any type of horror/gore films but cannot stand paper cuts. Nonono.
    - I love Harry Potter. A few days ago I was watching the films and was able to recite the exact words simultaneously. I also joined the Harry Potter society this week!
    - I used to be part of 3 waterpolo teams, however now I can't do any exercise to save my life!
    - My favourite food is pizza. Give me pizza and I will love you forever.
    - Speaking of pizza, I actually eat a lot for such a small person.
    - Family is really important to me, and my parents will always be my best friends.

So those are the lovely blogs I nominate for this award!

Hope you have read doing/reading this, and send me a link once you've finished so I can read yours!

    Midnight Mini Cupcakes

    Hello there!

Last night at about midnight, I had an urge to use the cupcake maker I had bought from Aldi (£9.99 Specialbuy) to check it actually worked before taking it to University. As it was so late I just wanted to make a really simple recipe, so started getting to work!

If you want to do the same, you will need:
    - a bowl
    - a mixing spoon
    - unsalted butter
    - caster sugar
    - medium egg
    - flour
    - mini cupcake cases (I used petit four paper cases from ASDA)
    - decorations/icing
    - patience

(This makes around 14 mini cupcakes.)

First I put 50g of butter in a bowl and 50g of caster sugar, and mixed these together until creamy.
Add the egg. I always do this in a separate jug just in case the egg is off or something, as you can never be sure, and you wouldn't want to ruin the cake mixture by doing it directly into the bowl.

Finally add the flour, and mix to your heart's content until it has all combined and smooth, no lumps!
Line the cupcake holders with cupcake cases, and fill with the cake mixture to about two thirds full.

Now for the waiting. Grab a book or watch tv and wait for the cakes to bake for roughly about 15 to 20 minutes (check them every now and then), and try to avoid dunking your finger into the leftover mixture and eating it ... *guilty*. As the cupcakes are "mini" and there are only seven cupcake slots, this will take ages to make loads, so you will need a lot of patience.

*Use a cloth or a tea towel to help open up the cupcake maker, as steam will escape and can burn your hand. (I learned the hard way!)*

When the cakes are ready, prod them with a knife and if they come out clean, unplug the cake maker and let the cakes cool for a few minutes, and then turn them out onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Repeat as many times as you need to until you have used all the cake mixture, and once they are all cooled, you can begin the fun part - decorating!

Obviously this is only a basic recipe but you can add whatever you fancy to the mixture to liven it up a little!

What kind of things do you like to bake?

    Calvin Klein For A Pound!

Today I went to Newark to get my hair cut before I go off to University - so it's one less thing I need to worry about once I'm there. Obviously I couldn't resist popping into a few shops after, since there are more stores and wider ranges than they do in my home town. So I went into Poundland, admittedly because I just wanted some caramel freddos (heaven!) and I found these...

CALVIN KLEIN beauty products being sold in Poundland! I didn't even read what it the exact product was at first, as I scooped them up and swiftly paid for them.

On closer inspection later, I read that they were 'Tempting Glimmer Sheer Crรจme Eyeshadow', in the colour cashmere plum and retro silver.

The eyeshadow actually reminds me of 'Maybelline Color Tattoo', with the creamy, gel like consistency.
Ignore the scar, I only realised it was in the photo when I was writing this post!

When applying the swatch, the cashmere plum doesn't appear to be cakey, and for just a pound I think it is brilliant, so I'm hoping I can find the other colours on my next visit. The retro silver however, I was disappointed by. When doing the swatch I found the product watery and so hardly shows up and looks bad on my hand, let alone what it would have looked like on my eyes. I don't know if it was just the one I picked out that was like this, or if this is what all the silver ones are like from Calvin Klein. I'd love to hear if you have purchased these ones, and your opinions.

Do you think everything you buy from Poundland is always of good quality? I frequently see the nail polishes in the store looking as if they have been sat on the shelf for years, as often the liquid inside appears to have separated, which surely can't be good! Does this mean you are applying nail polish and other makeup onto your body and face when it could actually be out of date?

What do you think? And what bargains have you found lately?

    Autumn 2013 Fashion Wishlist

    Autumn Wishlist
I just love it when Autumn comes, and that's because you can wear really cosy clothes and boots without overheating! I'm trying to stick to a budget so restraining myself from spending money, however these are my favourite picks that if I could spend money, I would be buying!

Deep Red Chain Finish Platform Court Shoes - New Look - £24.99
Ahh shoes. I can never get enough of them, and I'm pretty sure I already own over 30 joke, so maybe it's a good thing I'm on a spending ban. However I do just love the statement chain finish on these stiletto heels, perfect for a night out.

Black Floral Belted Pleated Skort - New Look - £14.99
Now if you've never heard of a skort before, they are essentially just a skirt with shorts built in. This pretty skort has the perfect Autumn colours in a floral print and would make your waist look amazing. And yes, I am slightly tempted to give in and buy this.

    Preppy Shirt - Matalan - £12.00
A girl can't have enough checked shirts, right? *shifty eyes* They can be worn so many ways, and are available in so many colours!

Falmer Knitted Cashmere Blend Leggings - Matalan - £16.00
I've had my eyes on these since I saw them a year ago in store, and I'm so happy they returned. The material is so soft so would definitely keep you warm. Personally I think they look much better in person than they do in the picture on the website.

Burgundy Boyfriend Drop Pocket Cardigan - New Look - £12.99
This type of cardigan is something I have been meaning to buy for quite a while now, as it's perfect to pair with even just a simple white top, and I just love this colour.

    Checked Scarf - H&M - £9.99
When I buy a scarf I always buy practical scarfs that actually keep you warm rather than the "fashion scarf", as pretty as these may be. This scarf looks almost tartan, with a sweet fringe trim on the ends. I may just have to buy it. Shh!

Grey Cable Heart Jumper - River Island - £35.00
And finally, last but not least, we have the super comfy jumper. Unfortunately my size is sold out anyway, even if I had wanted to buy it, which I'm kind of thankful for though looking at the price. This jumper features a cute heart design on a cable knit jumper, and so you can be sure it will keep you warm thanks to the chunky knit.

    What's on your Autumn wishlist?

    Polyvore Trial

    Leather Chic

Leather Chic by crazyblondegal featuring black high heel boots

Oh gosh I need those boots in my life. This is a similar outfit I wore out for an evening with my friends, that I have recreated using Polyvore. I am unsure as to whether I will be using it again in future as still working out how to use it, and to make it look half decent at the same time. If you know of any better websites to use, please comment! Hope you're all wrapping up warm, as the colder weather seems to be settling in now.

    Review: Prairie Charms

A little while ago I was tweeted by the lovely handmade online accessories boutique Prairie Charms, inviting me to take part in their "Project Blogger" collaboration. I read into this and after seeing they donate 10% of profits to the Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital, I was more than eager to take part and purchase something from their website.

After craving for a flower crown all through the summer, I decided on the gorgeous Fleur Crown I had seen on the twitter page for Prairie Charms. I then also chose the tala heart bows (pack of two), and the rose bobby pins in pink. (These seem to be currently out of stock on the website). Unfortunately my package got mixed up in the post, however Prairie Charms were kind enough to send out another package which I was very grateful for.

Every morning I came rushing down the stairs to check and see what the post would bring, and finally it arrived, in a bright purple package as if Christmas had come early!

The items themselves were wrapped perfectly in pink paper to keep them safe, and sealed with a Prairie Charms sticker. The crown was also packaged in bubble wrap to prevent any breakages.

    Fleur Crown
As you can see, the crown is simply stunning and really well made for just £6 (with the Project Blogger discount). I love the fact that it's on a metal band rather than an elasticated piece as it feels much more secure so I wont be fiddling with it all day. A lot of places sell these for much, much more, so I was very pleased with it. I chose pink because it goes well with my blonde hair, and even if I were to dye it pink again, it would suit.

Rose bobby pins and tala heart bows
You'll probably be shocked to know before I ordered from Prairie Charms, I owned no hair accessories at all! The website managed to sway me, and I'm so glad it did because the clips are so lovely. The bobby pins themselves are a smaller version of the crown, for example for if you just want a little something to put in your hair instead of the full hairband.

I have been lusting after some hair bows for quite some time now, but the ones I often find that I like are far too expensive for what you actually get. These hair bows however are so sweet and are good quality, so stay firmly in my hair due to the crocodile style clips.

There are so many different ways to wear these hair pieces so hopefully I'll be able to get another post up soon to show you how to do it. I've already got my eye on a few more things from Prairie Charms, as all of the items are so lovely and reasonably priced, so I will be definitely buying more in the near future. They also have a "beauty" section on the website that I am very eager to to look at, when they start listing products there soon hopefully! I think that Prairie Charms' customer service have been fantastic with talking to me through Twitter and also via email. They made me feel at ease with the transaction and kept me up to date with the parcel details, I couldn't recommend enough so urge you to have a wander onto their website, and see if anything takes your fancy.

Have you ordered from Prairie Charms yet or taken part in Project Blogger? Let me know!

    Primark Makeup Travel/Storage Bag

    Primark Makeup Bag - £5.00
On one of my many adventures to Primark, I stumbled upon a range of makeup bags. Knowing I currently owned the tiniest one in existence, I decided to buy a large one which I could also use to cart all my makeup to University, ensuring it's all kept together and safe. This bag is so perfect, and when not using it for travelling it's great for just storing all your products in. The bag did get a little crumpled on the journey back home, so apologies as it shows up in the image!

    Side View
The bag is a blush colour, quilted pattern design with stud detail. It has just one zip around the top so it's easy to open, and even though it does not have any smaller compartments inside, I did not think it was necessary considering the size of the bag itself. The handle on top makes it so easy to carry around.

This bag is amazingly spacious and roomy so you can fit anything you could possibly need in here, and only for a fiver! If it were to get dirty, you only need wipe it with a wet cloth. Not bad, I must say.

    *Also comes in black.

    Review: Lush Eau Roma Water

On one of my most recent trips to Lincoln, I just had to have a look in Lush while I was there since we do not have one in my local town. I was so glad I did go in as it must have been noticeable that I was a newbie to Lush, and had no clue what I was looking for so an assistant approached me and I was so thankful. I applaud Lush on their excellent customer service, as the assistant talked me through the range of products, and even identified ingredients within each product I was interested in off the top of her head which was very impressive.

    Eau Roma Toner Water
I decided to pick this toner because sometimes I get really bad oily skin and tend to break out a lot. I felt I needed to look after my skin, especially when feeling a little stressed I tend to get spots more. Several months ago I was actually using a toner from Simple, however I never really used it often as even though it did do a good job, I was just lazy with using it.

Now after buying Lush Eau Roma Water, you could say I'm a toner convert! There are so many benefits from using this product. It tones down redness and makes my skin feel soft and smooth. You can either spritz on to a cotton pad or directly onto your face to refresh it, and both work well. I usually remove makeup from my face with a face wipe and leave it at that, but after using this toner I didn't actually realise how much makeup I was actually leaving on my face, it was quite shocking! The packaging is lovely and smells delicious with lavender extracts. I bought the smaller bottle (100g) to test it out, but now I can confidently say I will be repurchasing this product again.

I was spending a while smelling all the bath and bubble bombs as I was indecisive about which one to get and what each one was best used for. The lovely assistant came over again and explained the different uses, and even grabbed a jug of water to show me how the bubble bars worked which was great, and very much appreciated for taking the time to help me.

    Rose Jam Bubbleroon
I was told that it can be used for two baths as you grab hold of each side and "twist" to break it into two halves, for two separate baths. You then crumble it under the running tap and it creates bubbles and leaves a gorgeous rose scent, so I can't wait to try it.

I apologise for the lack of posts recently, I have been so busy with various commitments so finding the time to write is a little hard at the moment. However I can't wait till it's all over so I can get back to posting frequently, so thankyou for your patience!
