You May Have Noticed That I'm Not All There Myself

So here it is, I can't believe it's already the last day of the year! It's been such a busy year but I've loved every moment and wouldn't be where I am now, even with those little bad moments too.

So what have I been up to this year?

WELL... first of all, I started this blog! It's still young as it was only created in August, but I'm very pleased with how far it's come. I still giggle at my very first blog post... look at that NOTD image, probably should have learned how to neaten them up first! Earlier this year, I finished college and was accepted into my first choice of University, and then cheekily bunked off college to go sledging in celebration!

I was elected as course rep just a couple of weeks into the first term of University, and even had two jobs on the go all at once! I've had numerous holes put in my body throughout the year, which brought my piercings up to a total of 10, and also dyed my hair pink a fair few times. I've worn fancy dress more times than you could ever imagine, and own a fancy dress box larger than a 4 year does.

I've had a few mishaps along the way...
...but have always smiled my way through it all!

I've been clubbing countless times this year, and danced until I had blisters on my feet! I've met so many amazing people this year, including this lovely bunch of weirdos ;)

This was me with some friends at last year's New Year's Eve :')
...however I'm opting for a quiet one in this year!

I hope you all have a fantastic New Year's Eve, and best wishes for the new year to come. Most importantly thank-you to you, for being supportive of my blog and for reading my posts.

Love of love from the Crazy-Cat Lady herself,

Marks and Spencer: Floral Collection Magnolia Gift Bag

When it comes to gift sets, I try to finish one off at a time so I do not have several on the go all at once. So after finishing my latest gift set, I was rummaging around my bathroom at my parents' home looking for a new one and came across Marks and Spencer's Floral Collection Magnolia Toiletry Gift Bag. I must have been given this for either my birthday or even Christmas last year; however I can't remember for the life of me who gave it to me which sucks, because it is amazing!

This gift bag consists of bath cream, shower cream, hand and body lotion, along with a body puff and the toiletry bag itself. I used the bath cream to create some bubbles in my bath and then the shower cream which with both combined, left my skin feeling so soft and nourished! I used quite a bit in my bath so had lots and lots of bubbles which smelled great. In fact, the smell of all these products is just delicious and not too strong! It is my first time using this range, but I will definitely be buying more after they run out. I wish I had a bath at University as I miss things like this, and most importantly... bath bombs!

I have yet to try the hand and body lotion as I don't normally use body lotions, but if it's anything like the other two products; I can be assured it'll be great. The packaging of the products is gorgeous, and looks so much more expensive than it actually is - a great addition to any bathroom! The toiletry gift bag itself is quite pretty with the polka dot design, so I wouldn't be embarrassed to use it as my main toiletry bag - I've actually needed one for a while now!

All in all, this is a great quality gift bag, I love it.

Happy Boxing Day!

Happy Boxing Day everyone! Well, it's nearing the end of the day now but I hope you have all been scoffing chocolates, received lots of lovely presents and are enjoying time with your loved ones. Admittedly I am already on my 4th box of Malteses, I'm addicted to them! However I'm feeling quite sick right now.

I'm currently sat at my laptop having a movie night watching the Batman films while doing a bit of internet-window shopping. Lots of sales on at the moment! Unfortunately I would have loved to have gone in store to view the sales in person, but I had to go to work. Despite this, I've still had a lovely Christmas holiday (all three days of it!) and received many wonderful items from family, friends and "Santa". ;) I won't list them all; however I will say I've spent the majority of my free time geeking out on Mario Kart which I absolutely love!

I have also received a fair amount of Apple Sourz - not to be sniffed at at all! I am not encouraging drinking, however Sourz is my all-time favourite drink for sure, and anyone that knows me knows this! I also won the Sourz Christmas competition and won a free T-shirt, which I have now claimed as my bedtime top.

I also just wanted to take a minute to thank each and everyone one of my readers - that means you! - and to say I hope you have all had a very Happy Christmas, and all the best for the New Year! I'd love to hear what you have planned for New Year's Eve!

NOTD: Barry M Nail Paint Gold Glitter

Now that it is Christmas time, it's also time to get a little festive with these glittery gold nails! As I'm working over Christmas, it was nice to bring a little colour and festiveness to my uniform. I used Barry M Gold Glittery Nail Polish, which is perfect for this season. The Red Glitter polish will also suit well, reviewed here, this was actually my very first post on this blog making my blog about four months old now!

Anyway before I get all sentimental over it, these polishes need three coats if you want to achieve this look (full coverage), and wow does it sparkle in the light! I spent most of my work shift staring at my nails at just how glittery they are. To ensure these didn't chip after all that hard work of applying the coats, I then used Barry M All In One as a topcoat. As this polish can be used for different purposes, you could also use it as a base coat which makes it a lot easier to remove from your nail when the time comes. This image above was taken on my lunch break so as you can tell, can handle the bumps and grazes of a busy job, and will also remain strong on your nail right up until the end of the day and further.

Happy Christmas!

My Week So Far In Photos

My week so far has been that of an average one really. However I did submit my first University assignment and it was such a relief submitting it. It was on a topic I'm not really fussed about, but of course gave it my best. I was up the majority of the night before the deadline day making sure everything was right, and was shattered to say the least. But instead of celebrating when I handed it in... I just slept to my heart's content, which was aaamazing! Once I was awake we did then have Pizza Hut which was delicious; the cheesy garlic bread is my weakness. While I was chomping away on the pizza, my flat opened our Christmas presents we'd given each other as we had done Secret Santa, and I got this bad boy!

I went to work as I do every week, however nothing interesting really happened there. Actually thinking about it, my life is kind of quiet, but that's not to say I'm fussed about that. I don't go out clubbing much anymore like I used to last year, but spend most of my time doing uni work, going to work or gaming. It doesn't bother me that much as I enjoy these things, especially when I end up hanging out with my flatmates, spending most of the night sat together playing games.

Although as I had been feeling a little homesick, I was very happy to come home on Monday to see my family and pets. Mostly the pets. I always worry the cats don't get enough attention when I'm gone, as I used to give them the most attention. Now we have a puppy too, I do my best to spread my love and time equally when I'm home! They're all like my babies.

I also had a parcel arrive, wrapped so prettily I didn't want to open it, but of course I couldn't resist. What was it you ask? It was the prizes I had won from Charley's giveaway for #Bloggoween! She is over at Rambling of a Beauty Blogger where you can find all her lovely DIY, fashion and beauty blog posts. I'm so happy with the prizes, as I love anything purple and these nail polish colours are just beautiful, thank-you Charley!

On Tuesday after settling back in, we all helped put up the tree and decorate it - whilst trying to stop Molly from attacking it too! Mum's decorated the house so lovely; it looks gorgeous and so Christmassy. Oh, and I also thrashed them all at Monopoly on Tuesday night too. I rule!

It's now Wednesday and also time for me to head back to my University home in Lincoln. I always hate this part, leaving my mum, brothers and pets, *sniffle*. I'm set to return next Monday though, as it's my dad's birthday. He works in India so it's a joy when he comes back, as we get along so well.

So anyway that's a little peek into my week, and all these pictures and more are available to view on my Instagram. How's your week been?

The Body Shop Born Lippy Strawberry Lip Balm

The Body Shop Born Lippy Strawberry Lip Balm

Cracked lips... who wants them during the festive Christmas season? Not me, that's for sure! So where ever I go I always make sure I carry The Body Shop Born Lippy Strawberry Lipbalm with me. I have been using this product for years, and usually have two on the go at any given time. I have tried a few other flavours from the range, however strawberry is by far my favourite. It smells delicious and I have to stop myself from eating it sometimes, I swear. I find it lasts ages, however when you get near the end of the pot, it's hard to get the balm out without getting it under your nails, ugh! It isn't very long lasting; however you only need to just reapply so it's not an issue.

The Body Shop Born Lippy Strawberry Lip Balm

It is moisturising and leaves your lips feeling soft, smooth and most definitely kissable. I love that it has a red tint that gives a shine finish, and have even been complemented on it before! I adore this lip balm, and have been faithfully buying it for the past several years, and for £2 it's definitely worth your money (and quite often they have a 3 for 2 offer). So trust me when I say go out and buy it when you're next in The Body Shop!

How To: Make A Pokeball Cake

Hello everyone!

On Tuesday it was my boyfriend's birthday and I decided to make him a very special surprise. As you may have seen on my Instagram, I made him a Pokeball cake since he loves Pokemon, almost as much as I do!

So first I gathered all the ingredients I would need to make one:
- Eggs
- Self Raising Flour
- Margarine
- Caster Sugar
- Food Colouring (black, red)
- Icing Sugar
- Ready To Roll Icing
- Jam

Additional Extras:
- Fondant Smoother
- Cake Holder

As the silicone cake mould I used was so big, I had to double the recipe as I didn't want a really thin cake. Firstly, put 200g butter in a bowl and 200g caster sugar, and mix these together until light and fluffy. Next add 4 eggs and 200g flour, and then mix until it is all combined and smooth.

I filled up the cake tin up to about three quarters of the way, giving it room to rise. When the cake is ready (approx. 30 mins in oven), leave them on a wire rack to cool. While waiting for the cakes to cool, use this time to prepare the icing. As the ready to roll icing I bought was white, I needed to split the icing into parts and then knead in food colouring as we need red and black. You can use black icing in a tube for the black detail on the cake; however I did not have any to hand at the time. Split the icing into two larger parts for white and red icing, and one small part for black. It may take a while to turn the white icing to the colour you want, and it'll also get very messy! Make sure you have a clean surface to do this on. Once this has been done, wrap them in cling film and put them in the fridge to rest.

By now the cakes should have cooled, so get started on making the buttercream for the middle! I used raspberry jam on top, and then gently put the other cake on top. The next step is to sort the white icing out, making sure your surface is spotless, and don't forget about your hands. I found it started to stick to everything, my hands, the table, and the rolling pin, so use icing sugar to help if you need to.

So for the Pokeball cake, we need one half white and the other half red. Once you have rolled out the white icing, cut a straight line on one side so you have somewhat of a semi-circle. Gently lift the icing onto the cake, making sure the straight line is in the middle of the cake. I used a fondant smoother to help press down the icing and make it look smooth. Carefully cut off the excess, and then do exactly the same thing with the red icing. To do the white button in the middle, use some of the white icing to create one large circle, and one smaller one. Place them in the middle, using a little water if necessary to make sure they stick to the cake. Use black icing to make the black band around the cake, and trace around the circles too. For personalisation, I added their initial to the cake using the same black icing, then placed the cake in an airtight cake holder to keep it safe.

And that is how to make your very own Pokeball cake!

Review: Topshop Lipstick "Ohh La La"

Being so fair, and looking almost ghost like in Winter, it is hard to find a lipstick that really suits me and doesn't make me look ill. There is a lipstick I own from Topshop that I have always been a little undecided about. Ooh La La is a slightly neon peachy coral colour, surprisingly vibrant compared to what I had in mind. It gives medium coverage and a semi matte, soft finish.

However if your lips are dry, it will have a tendency to show lip imperfections. It isn't very long wearing - about a couple of hours, though it is good for a little flush of colour but not too bold. This lipstick only really suits me when just a little is applied, especially as I'm so pale.

For now however, I'm still on the hunt for more of a coral colour.

Goodbye Dainty Doll, Hello No7!

That dreaded day arrived. The day when the last of my Dainty Doll foundation ran out, 'sniffle'. Just when you think you've found your perfect shade, then bam! They take it away from you. I spent a lot of time trying to find out where I could buy more online, but I hate to say it... Dainty Doll seems to have been discontinued. There are just the odd products left on eBay and Amazon now. I'm not sure why though, as nothing was officially announced, and I can't find any news online.

So off I went in search for something to replace my much beloved DD liquid foundation and concealer. Now, being a fair maiden means that finding a shade that suits you isn't as easy as you might think. I headed to Boots in hope I would find something (that wouldn't make me look orange!). In most Boots stores there is a service called 'No7 Foundation Match Made Service', which measures your skin's colour and matches to your perfect skin-true foundation.

The assistant asks you a few questions regarding what effect (shine, matt etc.), what skin type you are, and how much coverage you want from the foundation. A whole questionnaire just for your face! Although I wasn't the slightest bit surprised when the device chose the lightest colour foundation they had - Stay Perfect Liquid Foundation in shade 'Calico'. In my head I was laughing thinking I was too pale for this brand, however when the assistant applied it to my jawline, it was perfect! It looks exactly the same as the DD foundation, and did I mention No7 is on a 3 for 2? I bought two of the foundations and one concealer - Match Made Concealer (which is also uniquely matched to your skin tone using the No7 Match Made service), so I picked out the same shade as the foundation - 'Calico'.

If you have been using the Dainty Doll range like myself and have struggled to find a replacement, look no further! I think the reason why I stick with the same products is because I like what I like, as others may agree. Once you find a shade that suits you, why would you need to try any others? No one likes change, however I'm so glad I managed to find a replacement to my everyday makeup so fast. The finish is semi matte, and gives a medium coverage. One pump of the dispenser is just the right amount, and only time will tell if it is weather proof too!

Have you tried this foundation before?

University: How To Deal With Stress

Since being at University, I have already been given various assignments, had freshers flu for three weeks, been made course rep, had two jobs, whilst trying to balance a social life in between. And this is all in just six weeks too!

I have had a stressful couple of weeks trying to coordinate the course rep meetings around lectures, and fitting in assignments around my jobs. After trying out a few methods, I am now back on track again. How did I manage it?

Make time for yourself:
Regardless of how busy you might be, make sure you leave yourself some time to unwind and chill out. Take a relaxing bath or read a chapter of that book you've been meaning to start, etc.

Identify and try to rule out the cause of the stress:
For me, the stress came from the fact I had two jobs, and course rep meetings that clashed with lectures. I solved this by quitting the second job, and I've actually resigned from course rep now. It was good while it lasted, though it just wasn't worth the stress I was putting on myself.

Ask for help:
If things do get bad, don't be afraid to reach out and ask for help. Friends, family or staff are just a few of the various individuals you can talk to, to stop the stress from turning into anything more.

You are not alone, and there are so many people out there that want the best for you. If you want to talk to me further regarding this post, feel free to contact me via twitter or email.

Pink To Blonde: Removing Semi-Permanent Hair Colour

If you haven't already read my last post, you would know that I dressed up as Alice in Wonderland for Halloween. I had wanted my naturally bright blonde hair back for the event, though my hair, which had been dyed pink a month beforehand is really stubborn. Regardless of how much I washed and scrubbed it with hot water and shampoo, the pink refused to come out. I'm missing my natural blonde hair and really would love to have it back.

The first thing to do when fading/removing semi permanent dye is to keep washing it, as I mentioned above. If this fails, which it has, I've heard about a few nifty tricks to try.

The first is to wash your hair with washing up liquid. Sounds mad I know, I thought this at first too. Creating a mixture with half washing up liquid, half shampoo (head and shoulders preferably as it removes dye quicker) should work. Crushing a vitamin C tablet into the mixture would benefit, as putting washing up liquid on your hair is very harsh.

I tried this and low and behold, it did actually fade the pink out a little. In other places however, it was still as pink as it was before. My next move was taking a trip to Boots to buy a product called Colour B4. This doesn't use bleach or ammonia, and so I started off with the regular strength one.

After following the instructions precisely, it had only faded it slightly more, but it hasn't stripped all the colour out as it had advertised! I went back to the store to get some more, this time with the extra strength, and then once more when that attempt failed too. Since you can only use this product three times on your hair, I had to stop after the third attempt.

I am now left with half naturally blonde hair, but random light pink streaks poking out. Not exactly what I wanted, but at least it's manageable. Hopefully it will fade with time.

Have you got any tips for fading semi-permanent hair colour?

October Star Buy

I know this post is a little late, as it's not even October anymore (getting closer to Christmas now!), but I just had to rave about what I found. I was initially shopping for a geek and nerd's night out, and ended up browsing at Topshop. I saw this beautiful red tartan bodycon dress, with a sweetheart neckline and zip front, perfect for the Autumn season.
I didn't actually buy it at the time, but as soon as I remembered Topshop do student discount, I legged it back to the store! This dress isn't too long on me which is perfect - (I'm 5'2") and even though the zip goes right the way down the front, it isn't easy for someone just to grab hold of it and undo which is good. Since this is one of the more costly piece of clothing I have bought since being at University (as I am on a budget), I am very happy with my purchase. It is good value for money, and is very sexy/pretty when worn.

Halloween Away From Home

So we've just past October, and it's already November! The time is just flying by, and I hope you have all had a lovely time for both Halloween and Bonfire Night. For me and my flatmates, we decorated the flat head to toe (admittedly the decorations are still up!), but this is ordinary to me as I've done Halloween ever since I was little:

Yupp that's me. My first Halloween aged 1, dressed in a pumpkin costume! Although I don't look impressed, I soon warmed up, and have celebrated Halloween every year since. This year I dressed up as Alice in Wonderland, so I guess some things never change.

This year, even though on a tight budget, it was still just as fun! We had music, lights, decorations, (vegetarian) vodka jelly and even did a little 'trick or treating around the other apartments. Here are a few Instagram photos from the night:

Happy Belated Halloween!
